A decade in marriage

"Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."
Matthew 19:6
This is our bible verse for our wedding service.

This year marks a decade in marriage.
We started with a couple trip to Bali for the first time without the boys in August.
Went out for dinner at a Japanese Restaurant on the actual day and a walk by the bund to complete it.

When I first got married. I had the illusions that getting married is the happily ever after in all fairy tales.
Little did I realize that the real work only begins after the wedding.
A marriage is a covenant with God. We are committed to love and honor each other till death do us part.
It hasn't always been easy, we have had our shares of ups and downs. By God's grace, we have always emerge stronger.

I am truly blessed and thankful that God has given me James to be my husband.
As I was doing my devotions the other day, it called for me to write down all the things I love and admire about him and the answers came readily....

My heart still skips a beat whenever he comes into a room.
I admire him for his intelligence and diligence.
I love his sense of humor especially in my down times when I really need a boost in spirit.
I love his writing for he has such a creative flair.
I appreciate his calming effect on me whenever I get paranoid over the boys.
I am thankful that he always appreciates me for all I do at home and willingly share all he has with me.
I am blessed that he loves his family and his two sons, always putting us first before himself.
I admire him for his loyalty, filial piety and how close he is with his family.
I am thankful that he choose to take on the sole burden of providing for his family so that I can have the luxury to be home to watch the kids grow.
I am blessed that he always indulge me.

Marriage is a lifelong commitment and it takes work and effort.
I promise to allow God to mould me to make me the helper He designed and intended for you dear...
Thank you for all you have done for me.
I couldn't wish for a better mate in life than you.
Love you and looking forward to many more decades together.

Dear God,

Thank you for giving me James to be my husband. Thank you for my marriage.
I pray that you will make me the perfect helper and wife for James as You intended. I pray that you will continue to bless and protect our marriage and may it be a glorious testimony for You.

Amen
